Regularly maintaining your range hood filters is important to keep them working well and to prevent grease and dirt buildup. Cleaning or replacing the filters as recommended by the manufacturer can extend the life of your range hood and improve your kitchen’s air quality. The filters trap grease, smoke, and other particles from cooking, stopping them from spreading around your kitchen and home.

  1. Remove the filters: Carefully detach the baffle filters from your range hood. Be cautious, as there may be accumulated grease on the filters.
  2. Choose a cleaning method: Dishwasher: Place the filters in the dishwasher and run a hot water cycle with your regular dish detergent. Hand-washing: For a more thorough clean, or if your filters are heavily soiled, you can hand-wash them. Fill a large sink or tub with very hot water and add a generous amount of a degreasing dish soap (such as Dawn). You can also add about a 1/2 cup of baking soda for extra cleaning power. Submerge the filters in the soapy water and let them soak for 15-30 minutes to loosen the grease. Use a non-abrasive scrub brush or sponge to gently scrub the filters, paying special attention to the ridges.
  3. Rinse and dry: Rinse the filters thoroughly under hot running water to remove all soap and residue.
  4. Reinstall: Allow the filters to dry completely before placing them back into the range hood. You can air-dry them or use a microfiber cloth to speed up the process.
